Harry “Bud” J. Suits Jr.,

Age 91 of Hector, NY passed away peacefully in his home on Peach Orchard Point in Hector, NY on Saturday, January 30, 2021.

He was predeceased by his parents Harry J. Sr., Grace Suits, Joanne D. Suits, the love of his life for 44 years, brother William “Billy” Suits, and brothers-in-law, The Honorable William N. Ellison and Delivan “Augie” W. Gates and his long-life friend Bruce Beardsley.

Harry is survived by his three beloved children J. Kevin (Mary) Suits of Tyrone, NY, Patricia (Kevin) Dowling of Carlisle, PA, and Sheila (James) Carnahan of Redfield, NY.

He will be dearly missed by his six grandchildren: Patrick (Betsy) Suits of Tyrone, NY, and Cullen Suits of Watkins Glen, NY, Tara (Nolan) Hughes of Oceanside, CA, Erin Dowling and Kellie (Christopher) Miller of Nashville, TN, and Molly (Christopher) Grassi of Bethesda, MD, and three great grandchildren: Nolan Patrick Suits, Naomi Lauretta Suits and Johanna Claire Hughes.
He is survived by his sisters Patricia S. Ellison of Watkins Glen, NY, Helen Gates of Vestal, NY, and brother Frank Suits of Homer, NY, and many nieces and nephews.

Harry was a graduate of Watkins Glen High School and LaSalle Military Academy. He proudly served his country from 1953 to 1955 as a Corporal in the US Army, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. After his enlistment he was Superintendent and then Chairman of the Suit-Kote Corporation, formally known as Central Asphalt.  Harry was very involved in his local community. He was a member of the American Legion, former Exulted Ruler of the Elks Club, co-founder of Timespell at Watkins Glen State Park, President of the New York State Liquid Asphalt Distributors Association, President of the Finger Lakes Automobile Club (AAA), Advisory board member of the Marine Midland Trust Company, Director of the Schuyler County Heart Chapter and Co-Commissioner of Small Fry Football League. He was a lifelong communicant of Saint Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church and the Watkins Glen Chapter of the Knights of Columbus.

Harry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a generous man and proudly supported his local community. He loved spending summers on Seneca Lake boating and sailing, especially with his kids and grandkids. His family shares many beloved memories of their boating trips to 1000 Islands and Canada.

The family wishes to thank those who have recently expressed their love and concern.  We extend our sincere gratitude to Sandy Sullivan for her outstanding care for Bud these last few years.

The family will receive friends at the Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, 212 E. 4th St., Watkins Glen on Friday (Feb. 5th) from 6pm-8pm.  A private funeral mass will be held for family and friends, and private burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Donations can be made to Saint Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 905 N. Decatur Watkins Glen, 14891.  Condolences may be left for the family at his obituary at www.RoyceChedzoy.com.  Arrangements by Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Dad. Mr. Suits was always kind to me when I would visit. He was a true gentleman. I was sad to hear of his passing. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
