My father Rudolf Schlief (then aged 90) of Hector, NY was Gifford's roommate at Seneca View briefly from 25 June to 5 July 2019. He was recovering from partial hip replacement surgery and undertook physical therapy there.
My mother Gudrun or myself visited every day and we remember Gifford as a very kind and caring person, one who would give you the shirt off his back, if needed. I regret not visiting him on his birthday on 11 December. I was sick with a bad cough at the time but should have visited later in January. --Ralph Schlief

I met Gifford a few times when I took Communion to him at the Falls Home. He was a very friendly man with a gentle manner. I remember that he gave me some word search puzzles. My condolences and prayers on your loss.

I enjoyed the time I got to know Gifford many years ago when I worked at the ARC. He was so kind. I am sorry for your loss.
